KIMI NO ISU (Your Chair) Project has been launched by the city of Asahikawa, in Hokkaido (Japan). Every year, one designer is asked to design a new wooden chair for children. Each child who was born during that year in Asahikawa will receive this chair. Thanks to the success of the project, children of 4 more cities of Hokkaido are also receiving the chair. Each chair is made of solid wood, marked with the date of production, name and birth day of each child, a logo, and serial number. Chairs are always manufactured in Hokkaido, although craftsmen and designers change every year. Our chair is designed to become the first friend of the newborn. Thus the organic shapes remind us of a living thing, the flat surface of the seat is meant to be used also as a table.
